Company valuations and M&A trends by sector in H1 2026

Our latest M&A reports look at company valuations and deal activity in the first six months of 2026 across six sectors, drawing on global listed companies valued over $5m and completed M&A transactions.

We cover six industry sectors and their sub-sectors. To view the report most relevant to you, simply select your sector below:

Consumer
Financial Services
Healthcare
Industrials
Support Services
Technology, Media and Telecoms

A few patterns stood out. While deal volumes fell in every sector we track, pointing to a selective M&A market, listed trading multiples generally held up. Multiples paid by buyers taking majority control rose in Consumer, Financial Services, Healthcare and Industrials, and fell in Support Services and TMT, so the direction of travel depended more on sector than on the market as a whole.

These are multiples for listed companies and completed deals. Privately owned businesses are typically valued at a discount to listed companies, reflecting factors such as liquidity, scale, management depth and the quality of financial reporting. That discount is usually wider for smaller, more owner-dependent businesses. This is why it can be useful to look at your business through a buyer's eyes well before you intend to sell. Many of the things that influence value take time to build.

Our Positioning and Readiness Optimisation (PRO) Review helps with this. It gives you a rigorous assessment of your business's value today, identifies the factors that are likely to matter most to buyers and sets out practical steps to improve your position over time.

Wherever you are, whether considering a sale, investment, or simply understanding where your business stands, we would be happy to have a confidential conversation about your options.
